Ruby Florence Turner (Hamilton) September 15, 1926 - July 7, 2017 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother on July 7, 2017. Mom was our foundation. Her beauty, style, grace, sense of humor and kindness were just a few of her great qualities. Family was everything to Mom. She loved them all more then words could ever express and each visit or phone call came with a "Love you Loads". When there was a family gathering the great grandchildren would ask when is GG coming? Born the youngest of 5 children in Saskatoon, Sk. Mom relished her early years, attending Caswell Hill School, then off to Bedford. Summers were often spent visiting the family's shack tent at Waskesiu. It was during her years at Bedford she met our Dad, Gaff Turner. Dad who attended Tech High School would walk great distances to meet Mom and go on dates. After a wonderful courtship, Gaff & Ruby married in June, 1949, and Mom became a hockey wife. Their first child, Bob, was born in 1950 while Dad was playing hockey in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mom with infant son in tow, joined Dad. Mom accompanied Dad across the U.S. and Canada as he chased his dream, but always returning to Saskatoon for the summers, where Dad became a plumber. More hockey, more travelling and another son, Hal. After 17 years of hockey it was time to come home. Two more beautiful children, Wendy and Tammy soon followed. Mom's greatest passion was shopping, and even during the last few years she would go on her own to spend 2 or 3 hours at Winners. Her other great passion was family travel. Mom loved her Hawaii and Montana vacations. Her soulmate, Dad, passed away suddenly on January 2, 2012. After his passing Mom stayed independent and lived in her condo until her passing. Mom leaves us with heavy hearts, enriched souls and beautiful memories. She was our hero, the wind beneath our wings. Mom leaves behind her children, Bob and Shari Turner, Hal & Yvonne Turner, Wendy and Bruno Baseotto, Tammy and Bob Hui, her grandchildren Tracy Ernst, (Don), Robbie Turner, Chelsea Taman (Adam), Ashley Thiessen (Jeff), Taylor Hui, Brandon Hui, and great grandchildren Davis and Aidan Ernst, Charlie, Tenley and Madison Taman and Georgia Thiessen. She also, leaves behind her brother Les Hamilton. She was predeceased by her Husband Gaff, her parents Harold and Gladys Hamilton and siblings, Marj McMillan, Winifred Hopper and Roxy Wilson, and her grandson Jordan Johanson. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ruby's memory to "Light of the Prairies" Walter Lane, 925 McKercher Drive, Saskatoon, Sk. S7H 4T9. Mom has chosen not to have a memorial service. Her request was for a private family gathering. Cremation arranged in care of Cherished Memories. A special thanks to Dr. Hasson Masri and all staff at RUH for excellent care and kindness.
