It is with sadness the family announce the passing of Gerhard Walter Werner Jaeschke, age 84 years of Saskatoon, which occurred at St. Paul’s Hospital on September 22, 2016. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Carolina; son Vern (Nicole) and daughter Anita Jaeschke; grandchildren Jessica, Ainsley, and Akre; great-grandchild Axel; brother Walter; sister Elfrieda Schultze; and numerous relatives and friends. Gerhard Walter Werner Jaeschke was born on July 29, 1932 in Aslau, Germany. He left East Germany and came to Canada when he was 17 years old. Walter served in the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry. At the age of 26, he met the love of his life and was married to Carolina Fiesel. Walter was a Journeyman Bricklayer for many years before being employed as an Engineer within the Regina Police Service. In 1977 Walter and Carolina moved to Saskatoon where Walter continued his employment as an Engineer with the Saskatoon Police Service until his retirement in 1997. He loved to travel, camp, fish and hunt. He was certainly a Jack Of All Trades! A Celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in the Royal Canadian Legion, 606 Spadina Crescent West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Hospital or to The Lung Association for COPD research.
