It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, but also joy that she is now in her heavenly home for which she was longing. Ardis was born near Armena, AB. 91 years ago to Arnt and Ida Moe. She enjoyed helping her Dad outside while her sister helped her Mom inside. Horse and buggy took them to the country school in summer, while they took the sleigh and cutter in winter. After High School this gregarious and fun loving girl took a business course to prepare her for working in the bank in Camrose, AB. A year later, however, wanderlust took her to Saskatoon (the end of the earth according to her mother) where she met Floyd Melsness, the love of her life. They married and farmed 15 years in the Preeceville district before moving with their 4 children to Wynyard to work with Farm Credit Corporation. 30 years later they retired to Sasktoon. Relationships have been an important part of Mom’s life both here and in Arizona where she and Dad wintered for many years. She treasured time with her grand and great grand children. Mom’s place stood for lemon pie, lefse, scrabble, card games, books, stitching crafts and visiting. Ardis was predeceased by her brother Earl, her parents Arnt and Ida Moe, and her husband, Floyd. Left to mourn her passing are her sisters Rita Larson, Lois (Wilf) Aspenes, and Darlene (Al) Anderson, her children Corinne (Neil) Shantz, Bonnie (Darcy) Thompson, Brian (Barb) Melsness, Mark (Donna) Melsness and her 31 grand and great grand children. Thank you to the staff at RUH for their wonderful care these last 11 days of her life. A memorial service to celebrate Ardis’ life will be held Thursday, January 26 at 11am at Zion Lutheran Church, 323 – 4th Ave. S. There will be a public viewing Wednesday at 7:30pm also at Zion Lutheran Church for those who want to come. Donations may be made to Canadian Lutheran World Relief.
