December 28, 1986 – October 1, 2022
It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alyssa Marie Noonan at St. Paul’s Hospital on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the age of 35. She was surrounded by her loving husband Steve, family, and her dog Phoenix.
Alyssa was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to John and Donalda Gerstmar and was the second youngest of five children. She met the love of her life, her husband Steve, in 2003 and they were married in 2010. She was an integral part of a strong, closely knit family chain and the `fun’ Auntie to eight nieces and nephews.
Alyssa had a tremendous love and passion for life. Her grace and strength of character were hallmarks of her personality, and she was a loyal and caring friend to many. An accomplished and passionate Equestrian, she also loved sailing, the ocean, animals, travelling, online gaming (in the last couple of years) and most notably she had a fierce love for family and friends. Alyssa attended the University of Saskatchewan and completed her Bachelors of Kinesiology in 2009. She worked as an Accommodations Consultant for the Saskatchewan Health Authority and her compassion for others was demonstrated through her dedicated efforts to support the employees she worked with.
Alyssa is survived and lovingly remembered by:
Her husband, Steve Noonan; parents, John and Donalda Gerstmar; brother, Ryan Gerstmar (Denise, Mykah, Magnus); sisters, Shannon Forrester (Rob, Josh, Nate), Heather Toews (Adam, John, Maia), Ashley Gardner (Grant, Kate, Isla); grandparents, Cliff and Betty MacDonald; and lots of extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Frank and Lorraine Gerstmar.
A special thanks for the exceptional care and professionalism provided by the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (Dr. Sami), various Royal University Hospital inpatient units and the St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
A celebration of Alyssa’s life will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 1pm at the Saskatoon Inn, located at 2002 Airport Dr, Saskatoon. All are welcome.
For those unable to attend, you can view the ceremony live or on replay at https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/62179.
I’m so glad I was able to see you before you were gone from us. Although we met because of Ashley, the gerstmar household was my second home and bonus family growing up. I have so many fond memories including weekend breakfasts and bedroom hangouts. My condolences to Steve and all of the Gerstmars. Sending you all so much love.
Our condolences to you Steve and Alyssa’s mom and dad. Alyssa was the best coach and friend. she shared so much of herself and we will cherish our memories of her always. We will carry her with us every time we work towards her standard of equestrian turn out – in the quite moments of grooming and tack cleaning and in the perfectly matched horse and rider outfit that we know she would appreciate ❤️. We will think of her when a horse does something goofy or we have a good ride or even a challenging ride. We would not be the horse owners and riders we are without her, she taught us so much and her passion was so very contagious!. We will also miss messaging her about all things Harry Potter. She was fun and beautiful. I hope a thousand horses were there to greet her and gallop her through sea spray into her forever golden light. Love and prayers to you all.
