Cathy Helen Ethier, age 57, wife and mother of three, passed away Saturday evening of July 9th, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Cathy was a strong, independent, and stubborn woman with a big heart. She often took in family members, friends of her children, or her husband’s workers, and gave them a place to stay. Her son had dubbed the basement as “Hotel Cath”. From a young age, Cathy was a talented baker and put so much of her love into all her baking. She always said, “That’s the love”, when putting an extra sprinkle of sugar or a dash of vanilla into something she was making. So, it was no surprise when she took a job as a baker at the Martensville Super Valu, then at the Martensville CO-OP. In 2018, Cathy was given something that she would love more than baking: her first grandchild was born, followed by another in 2021. “Grandma” was a title that was very important to Cathy, and it fit her like a glove, as she spoiled and played with her granddaughters as much as she could. Cathy will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
As angels carry you toward the light, we are comforted knowing that the ones you once missed will be welcoming you home with open arms, and you will be watching and guiding us on our paths back to you.
A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held at a later date.
