After being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019, Lorten passed away at home on October 24, 2021 at 86 years of age. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Doris, son Doug (Kim) Waddell, daughter Raelene Purdy, granddaughters Amanda, Crystal and Grace & great-granddaughter Valen.
Lorten was a successful salesman during his career with Kraft General Foods. He & Doris retired early and spent years travelling. Saskatchewan winters found them in Texas or Arizona while summers were spent in Northern Saskatchewan at Hackett Lake camping & fishing. After his first round with cancer in 2002, Lorten devoted the next 10 years as a volunteer driver for the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and humor. Lorten always had a joke to tell and a smile on his face. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. For his family, he went above and beyond many times.
At Lorten’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the organization of your choice. Please help us celebrate a life well lived by reaching out and helping where you can, do a kind deed or tell a silly joke to make someone smile.
Our condolences and prayers are with you through this time. I have some great memories of uncle Lorton and camping with with your family Raelene. He always enjoyed cooking on the open fire his pots and pans were as black as black could be, eating his blueberry and ham pancakes and drinking his very very strong coffee
So sorry for your loss, my condolences to your family. It’s been many many years since I seen your parents but I can remember your dad well!
So very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayer are with your family and friends.
We were so very sad to hear that your dad has passed
our memory of him was a very kind man that loved to play
cards and we learned the game of UNO from him. He always had a smile on his face and loved to tease his granddaughters. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Kim and Raelene.
My thoughts are with you – Aunt Doris, Doug and Raelene (and your family). The memories are boundless of growing up with a man like Uncle Lorten. He carried on many loving characteristics of Grandpa and as much we would squeal and scream when he would surprise us or annoy us with the geez (sp?) … I wouldn’t trade any of that for anything. I shared the news of Uncle Lorten’s passing with my boys and they all responded with the great memories they had with Uncle Lorten & Aunt Doris out at Hackett Lake and other special times with our Waddell family. I shed tears for our loss and for not taking that last moment to visit but I know that he was greeted to his next life by his sister, his mom & dad and others who left before him and loved him like we did. Till we meet again Uncle Lorten 💔
We are so sorry to hear. We are thinking of you and your your family. Sending hugs.
Sending my sincere condolences to you Doug & Kim & your family. My thoughts & prayers will be with you all during this difficult time. Peace, Love & Kindness always your dad’s Smile says it all.
Our deepest condolences to Doris and the family. We had many laughs and good times while playing pool at the Army and Navy Club with Lorten. He was truly a great man. He’ll be missed.
Doris, Kim and Doug, Raelyne and your families. My deepest sympathies to you all. It doesn’t matter how old they are, or if they are sick, it still hurts just as much when they leave us. What I remember or Lorten from the few times I seen him is the fun loving man he was. Remember those times when you’re feeling low. I wish I was there to give you a hug. His bless 🙏
