Marie Sherry McDonald, 70, of Saskatoon SK, passed away on March 21, 2022.
Marie was born in Bralorne, British Columbia on November 21, 1951. She attended multiple schools in Athabasca SK, Calgary AB, and Rocky Mountain House, AB.
Despite family struggles she graduated high school with honors. Nursing was a big part of Marie’s life! She started her education with her LPN training, then upgraded to become an RN.
Marie then took her nursing degree (BScN), and finally completed her master’s in nursing (MN). Marie’s nursing practice focused on long-term care and mental health, and she became a nursing instructor at
Saskatchewan Polytechnic for many years. Marie had such a positive impact on so many nursing students throughout the years. She was so loving and such an amazing role model for students, which was evident in her long-lasting friendships with former students. She was a strong advocate for the students and will be greatly missed. While teaching she participated in several research projects with a focus on childhood trauma and developed the Concepto Plan, an innovative way to mind-map care planning, which is still being used today.
In her later years, Marie had her own practice as a psychotherapist and Foot Care services. Marie loved nursing and continued to work right until her very last days.
Marie was a wonderful nurse, advocate, and friend. She had a huge heart and gave so much love to everyone. Marie will never be far from our hearts.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time, and invitations will be sent out to friends and loved ones.

I first met Sherry while taking a Wholistic Nursing Certification. Later we became reacquainted when she and I were both in private practice. Then I had the privilege of working with Sherry at SIAST, and later on in the BSCN Program from the University of Regina. Sherry’s laugh was contagious. We enjoyed offices across from each other and spoke often. I pray her passing was peaceful. She was a wonderful individual with numerous skills and a huge heart.
