Shawn Leon Wiebe was born May 25,1975 to Andrew and Colleen Wiebe in Leduc, AB. He had one sister, Andrea. Shawn grew up in Leduc, Hinton and Morinville, AB before coming to Saskatoon in Grade 2.
Shawn was a quiet, spirited, gentle giant who was generous and thoughtful. Family was important to Shawn and much time was spent going to church activities, Bible camp in the summer, fishing and camping. Relaxing out at the lake, having fun on the lake, fishing, skiing or tubing with friends brought him many a smile.
Shawn lost his father at the age of 12. Shortly after that he started perfecting his trade as a carpet/flooring installer with his Uncle Pete. He was good at anything he put his mind too; basketball, bowling, card or board games or even bringing joy to his family and friends by teasing them.
Uncle Shawn was amazing and patient with his 2 nephews Andrew (AJ) and Adam and his niece Abigail (Abbey). He will be very missed as well by his adopted family, friend group, their children and his fur baby Gia.
Sept 21, 2021, Shawn went missing. His friends, family and the police searched for weeks. Even asking for the public’s help. Tragically he was not able to be safely returned to his earthly home. The remains of Shawn were recovered and the family and friends are left with more questions than answers.
The memorial service to celebrate Shawn’s life will be held Saturday Oct 23, 2021 at 2 pm at the Saskatoon Evangelical Free Church (on the corner of Circle and Laurier Dr). Due to COVID restrictions please sanitize your hands often and wear your mask appropriately. If you cannot attend the service, it can be seen on the Saskatoon Evangelical Free Church YouTube. https://youtu.be/MOISiPGrta4
Our condolences to you and your whole family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Shawn was an amazing young man, he was fun to hang around with, play games with and just be with. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Shawn, I miss you buddy. All the times that you stole my money in poker with that calm and chill demeanour, is one of the special memories I have of you! Hanging out with Alfred, Jake, Joe, Jeanette, Toby, especially Ray (RIP), and our circle of friends are the best memories I have of you and I will always cherish! Please be at ease with your self, God and play a couple of games of poker with Ray Chin! I really wish I can come back for your service and pay my respects but I’ve told my kids about you and the guy that will always be my friend and have my back! Rest In Peace buddy!
It was always nice to have Shawn around. He was kind and gentle, and had the biggest smile. Poker nights, ‘Friends-giving’, wings at Bridges, and every party that Jeanette or Phil threw… Shawn would be there! You will be greatly missed by all your friends. Rest In Peace 💜
Dearest Colleen, Paul, Andrea and Calvin and family!!
Our hearts ache with you. The Celebration of Shawn’s life was beautiful!! We were able to see how Shawn was able to live life and to the fullest. We loved the video show!!
Andrea, I cried with you!! You were an amazing sister to Shawn!!
I wish I could hug you all but know we are from our computer!!
I wanted to let you know how much we appreciated Shawn!! He babysat Jonathan for us and what a joy he was. Shawn loved to play with Jonathan and build with him using the lego’s. I loved how Shawn would tease. I loved to chat up with him and see his smile!!
We appreciated him in Youth Group. All the traits that were mention today were 100% right on the mark!! Those were the traits we seen in him.
To hear how much he traveled warmed our hearts!!
We wish there were more that we could do, but we realize there isn’t but know this, we have been praying and will continue to pray!!
I asked Jesus to give him a hug from us!!
Know that we love you and loved your Shawn!!

So sorry to hear about Shawn… We could not come to his memorial service but watched it online. A beautiful memorial to your son, brother and uncle.
My deepest condolences Colleen, Paul, Andrea, Cal, AJ, Adam and Abbey. A wonderful service to honour the kind person Shawn was by family and friends who so obviously deeply loved him. I will always remember his shy grin at family get togethers. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
We are so sorry for your loss. Our only meeting with Shawn was when he came to our house to put in the linoleum in our small bathroom , with his tall stature he managed to accomplish it. He was very professional, did a perfect job and lived up to the praises Andrea told Shannon of his work ethics. This world lost one of the very few people that have that. Respectfully Sharon, Don and family.
Shawn worked with Western Carpet one for the past 4-5 years. His quality was second to none, he was always polite, and kind. His calm demeanour, and attention to detail is something that I’ll remember Shawn for. Shawn’s family and friends can be proud of the care and respect Shawn put out in his works. Rest In Peace Shawn.
To the Wiebe family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I had prayed that Shawn would be returned to you safely.
I have sweet memories of Shawn in Gd. 4 at Confed. Park School. He was quiet, kind, considerate, thoughtful and curious. He was tall for his age and blonde- I recognized him immediately in recent photos.
Although I was unable to attend Shawn’s service in person, I did watch it on line. Andrea and her sons did a great job describing all of Shawn’s attributes and skills. I was pleased to see so many photos that showed the many adventures and experiences he had enjoyed.
I am grateful that Shawn is once again in your care, and I will continue to remember him with fondness.
Sincerely,
Janice (Thompson) Anderson
Thank you everyone for your prayers & kind words about Shawn. He will always be greatly loved & forever missed! I hope he’s got joy & peace up with his Heavenly Father, his Dad & Grandparents in Heaven.
I remember Shawn from High school. He was a friend of a friend. He was quiet and respectful. That’s what I remember about him.
I saw a poster about him downtown Saskatoon. I came searching hoping for good news. I was saddened to read this.
May Shawn Rest In Peace and I hope the family gets some answers.
