Aafke (Affie) May Fahr, age 73, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 7, 2021.
She was born October 17, 1947 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Reg and Margaretha Harris.
Aafke loved caring for others. She and her long-time friend Myfawny (Myf) Mcintosh, began their nursing careers in 1967. They worked in Estevan, Calgary, Toronto, the Moose Jaw Union Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon.
She retired in 2018 after working for more than 50 years. The last 30 years of her nursing career were spent working with Dr. Chernoff, Kusch and Parker. Through the years, she earned the love and respect of thousands of patients and colleagues.
Aafke loved to paint, a skill she perhaps acquired from her mother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Aafke is survived by her brothers Bill (Carole) and Bob (Karen); her two sons Rob (Laurie) and Matt (Mandy); grandchildren, Jordan, Jenna, Maverick, and Madalynn Fahr; and her many nephews and nieces. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
Special thanks to the staff at Diamond House in Warman as well as the staff at the Royal University Hospital for the care and love they showered upon Aafke over the past 5 months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. https://cancerfoundationsask.ca/donors/
I had the privilege of visiting Aafke last July in Saskatoon and I treasure that visit to our long time Family friend – our sunshine girl as we called her. I send prayers and condolences to the entire Family and love 💕

On behalf of my family, sending our condolences for your loss. Affie was generous with her smiles and wanted to know how is the family. Even as my children grew into their careers, she would ask about each of them. She was a special lady.
We first came to know Affie many years ago because she was our nurse at Dr. Chernoff’s office. Over time, she became a dear friend. Affie was always such a pleasant person to talk to and we will miss her. She went out of her way to help whenever she could and she always did everything with a smile. We are so sorry to hear of her passing.
We met Affie back in the 80’s when we first started seeing Dr. Parker. She was always smiling and pleasant and she felt like a dear friend to the family. We were very sad to hear of Affie’s passing. We will miss her lovely smiling face and her happy nature. Condolences to her family. She will be greatly missed 😔
