Clara Mary Saretsky

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom and grandmother, Clara (Merkosky) Saretsky on August 22, 2022.  Clara left with angels by her side to reunite with her husband Alfred and sons Gerald and Brian to eternal life. We’re sure dad got the Kaiser cards ready and asked Gerald and Brian to place and order from Amazon for a few casino machines.
Clara grew up in the Burr district on her parent’s farm Charles and Helen (Gursky) Merkosky. She married Alfred in 1945. They were blessed with 6 children and 22 grandchildren.  Gerald (Marie), Lanny (Juingmi) and family, Luc & Leon. Lara (Jamie Kingston) & family Gemma and Juniper. Mike (Katrina) and family Violet and Simon. Kate (Miles Meili) and family Piper and Ivy.  Trudy (Roger) Langenhoff and family Tina (Scott) Zook.  Michele Lawrence and family, Brielle. Brad Langenhoff. Brian (Celine) and family, Lindsay, Jeremy (Amanda) and family., Brett. Grant and family. Sandra Pasemco and family., Trevor Russel (Roxanne) and family, Ramaar and Aunaya. Jana Pasemco & Austin Pasemco. Warren (Dana) and family, Braden, Jonah, and Mathew.
They had a grain and livestock farm until dad’s retirement in 1975.  They moved to Humboldt. Mom obtained her nursing assistant diploma and worked at St. Mary’s Villa until her retirement in 1990. She made many long-time friends during her 15 years at the Villa.  After dad’s passing in 2006 mom remained living in her home until 2017. Due to health reasons mom moved into Humboldt Caleb. She had a creative passion and excelled in lots of different crafts. She painted beautiful pictures, enjoyed doing stained glass, also making dried flower arrangements from her many flower beds.  She knit dozens of slippers for family members.  Every weekend until her later years, mom showed her baking skills with awesome tasting buns, breads, and delicious pies.  She was famous for her sour cream raisin pies.  She also enjoyed singing and had a beautiful singing voice.   In 2021, mom moved into Luther Care Home in Saskatoon.  Clara resided in Luther until her passing at Royal University Hospital.  She leaves to mourn her sisters Doreen Sotnikow, Chris Dust, Helen Dobni, and sisters in law Evelyn and Rose Merkosky.  Clara was predeceased by her parents, Helen, and Charles Merkosky, four brothers; Leo, Albert, Edward and Bernard Merkosky, three sisters; Francis (in infancy), Bertha Muench and Marie Korte.  Siblings in law; Johanna Merkosky, Lorraine Merkosky, Chester Dobni, Arnold Dust, Hugo Muench, Jim Sotnikow.
Interment for Clara will be at a later date in Humboldt’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.
