May 22, 1951 — January 6, 2025

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” — John 14:1-2

With heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Darrell Martin Dick on January 6, 2025, at the age of 73. Darrell passed away peacefully at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon.

Darrell was born on May 22, 1951 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan to Martin (Smitty) and Germaine Dick. Darrell grew up in Landis, Saskatchewan where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the outdoors. He married Shirley Niedzielski in 1972, and together they had three children. Though their marriage was not permanent, their bond as parents left a lasting legacy.

Darrell is lovingly remembered by his three children: Jason (Allyson) along with their sons Ryan and Jordan, Kevin (Christina) with their son Grayson and Jolene with her daughters Carlin and Cabri. Darrell is survived by his father, Martin (Smitty), his brother Robin Dick (Kajoo), his sister Joy Popadynec (Ken) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Darrell was predeceased by his partner Shirley Hawreschuk and his mother, Germaine.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Darrell spent many years as a Realtor in the Saskatoon area and owned several small businesses. His passion for life was evident in his hobbies, which included cooking, crafting his own wine, hunting, fishing at Turtle Lake, piloting, discussing politics and tending to his beloved horses and dogs on his acreage.

Darrell’s warmth, quick wit, and unwavering love for his family, friends and animals will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Darrell’s memory will forever remain in our hearts as we take comfort in knowing he has found peace in his Father’s house.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Oliver Lodge for the care and support they provided Darrell the past few years.
