Donna Paulette (Bauer) Melling

Mom was born in North Battleford, SK on October 14^th, 1954 to Thelma and Joe Bauer. She grew up in Glenbush, with her younger sisters, Dianne and Joanne, and later moved to Makwa. Here she fell in love. Mom and Dad were married on June 8^th, 1974. The young couple moved to Saskatoon and eventually to Martensville. They had four beautiful children: Nadine (1979), Karla (1980), Tyler (1984) and Eldon (1986). We were lucky to have her home to raise us. We remember many picnics, trips to the zoo, and so many other adventures.

Mom unconditionally loved her family to the fullest. She had a gift of knowing when and what you needed and was always around to help. She was the rock of the family, her strength amazed us all.

Mom’s greatest joy was her grandchildren and being a significant part of their lives, she was much more than just ‘Grandma’, especially to Ethan. We know that she will be watching them every minute, from Heaven.

Mom’s other joy was her yard and garden. She spent countless hours planting, pruning, weeding and harvesting. Her devotion to her garden was admirable. We all loved to help shell peas, clean carrots and beans, make salsa, spaghetti sauce and pickles. We were grateful for the unlimited supply of canning and vegetables. We will never be able to recreate Mom’s pie crust or her cinnamon buns and will miss the never-ending baking from the deep freeze.

Mom had the opportunity to travel with her family and she loved being able to take hot vacations. These trips provided precious time spent with her family without life’s distractions.

Mom’s battle with cancer was brief and tragically ended on July 21^st, 2019. We will miss you more than words can express and we love you to the moon and back.

Family and close friends will be gathering at Cherished Memories (591 Centennial Drive North, Martensville) on Thursday, July 25^thfrom 4-6pm to say our good-byes to Mom. It will be come-and-go as there will be no formal service, as per Mom’s wishes.
