Dorothy Upton

                                                     Dorothy “Dot” Patricia (Campbell) Upton

March 1, 1932 – April 29, 2021

It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother (GG).

Mom led her life with honesty, integrity, faith and beauty. She was the youngest of nine children born in the Campbell home of 221 where over 45 years ago she returned to raise her family and stay until just days before she passed. She was a woman of strength who independently raised her 6 children and proudly dedicated 35 years to a career at St. Paul’s Hospital, which is where she peacefully spent her last few days. Mom was ever positive, always considering obstacles as adventures.

Mom was a world traveler. Her adventures took her all over Europe and the UK including Northern Ireland (the Campbell homeland), to New York (Broadway shows), San Francisco, Las Vegas, Hawaii many times, the east coast of USA and Canada, not to mention countless trips to the west coast to visit her Campbell siblings and son, Jay. She even took all 6 of us on a train to the west coast, what a brave woman! Much of her travels were planned around the horse races (it was in her blood!), such as the Kentucky Derby and Woodbine in Toronto. She and her dearest friend, Doreen Miller were regulars at Marquis Downs and frequented the Winner’s Circle on many occasions.

Mom was a published poet, wonderful sketch artist, gardener and songbird, but more than anything her passion for photography was legendary. She could often be seen with 3 cameras strung around her neck. She was our keeper of memories. She cherished the finer things in life, and we all loved when it was our turn to join her at the many ballets, musicals and concerts she took us to over the years, most notably the Saskatoon Symphony as she held season tickets. She especially enjoyed the various performances of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, with a special love for Irish dancing (naturally). And if you knew Mom, you knew she could outwalk anyone!

Mom will forever be loved and missed by her children Carole (Yars) Hawryliw, Nancy, Jay (Vivian), Rodney, Albert (Analou), Kathleen (Richard) and honorary son, Tony Mark. Her Grandchildren, Ryan (Jeanette), Shannon, Sean, Kayley, Melanie, Nigel, Jasmine, Patrick, Daniel, Jesse, Luc and Max. Great Grandchildren, Madison, Noah, Caleb, Roxy, Amour, Laila, Taylor, Braelyn, Nathan, Liam, Colin, Kaytis, Jade, Absolum, Tessa, Jessean and Olivia. As well as her brother Daniel (Mary aka Jiggs), sister Bonnie (Vic) Ring, her sister-in-law Earlene (Lloyd) Manz and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mom has joined in heaven her grandson Matthew, along with many Campbell angels; her parents Marie and Patrick Campbell, siblings Fran (Vicki), Patrick Malachy (Doris), Agnes (Bill), Mary (Ted), Lee, Ray and also her closest companion, Doreen Miller. By now Mom has taken a beautiful group photo of this reunion.

Mom, Grandma, GG, you were our everything. Until we meet again. Bye Bye.

A private family funeral will take place at St. Mary’s Parish. If you wish, donations can be made to the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra or the Meewasin Valley Authority.

Arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Services and Crematory.
