Douglas Trabbish

October 12, 1949 ~ August 22, 2023

Douglas Frederick Trabbish was born October 12, 1949 to William and Katrina Trabbish in Ontario, Canada and passed away August 22, 2023 in Saskatoon, SK, Canada.

Doug was an avid sports fan, who loved baseball, Nascar and hockey, particularly the Boston Bruins. Doug was a slow pitch umpire for many years before his knees gave up the game. Doug was a very competitive kaiser, rummy and cribbage player, which his friends could definitely confirm!

Although Doug held jobs outside of the home, his primary focus was always in the care and keeping of his stepdaughters, Chelsea and Nicole. Doug made peanut butter cookies for every school event (back when you could have peanut butter in schools) and always made sure Sunday supper was served at the table, unless it was Hockey Night in Canada! Doug did everything in his power to ensure their needs and wants were met.

This love and care extended to Chelsea and Nicole’s children and stepchildren also. Keira, Alex, Zane, Danyka, Josh and Ernie all benefited from his love, attention and generosity.

After receiving a cancer diagnosis in 2020, with a prognosis of one year, we were very blessed to have Doug with us for another two year beyond his prognosis. Doug fought cancer valiantly, with his trademark wit and general positivity.

Doug leaves to mourn his stepdaughters, Chelsea (Eddie) Choponis and Nicole Hawreschuk (Ernie Biggs), his beloved grandchildren, Keira, Alex and Zane and step-grandchildren Danyka, Josh and Ernie. He will be missed by many friends, old and new.

As per Doug’s request, there will be no funeral service, but we ask that you share a memory, raise a glass or make a donation to a worthy cause in his name.
