The passing of Ted Gilroy occurred at Glengarda Hospice on Monday May 13th 2024.
Surviving are his loving wife Audrey( of 71 years), son David(Linda), grandchildren Daniel and Taryn( Jay),son Greg(Betty),grandson Dallas(Tricia). Ted was also great grandfather to 7 great grandsons, and remembered by several nieces, nephews and friends. Ted was pre deceased by his parents John and Lissie and sisters Jananne(Halpenny), and Ruth(Stoppa).
Dad’s chosen career for a large part of his life was as a highly skilled dental technician in Saskatoon. In his youth Ted was a very talented hockey player, involved in Air Cadets, Boy Scouts, numerous homing pigeon clubs, and sang in the Saskatoon boys choir. After retirement Ted had more time to spend fishing and hunting with his boys, and training his Labrador retrievers.
Ted had an entrepreneurial spirit and loved working with his hands inventing and patenting a variety of different products. In later years his favourite hobby was manufacturing fishing lures(Swift Water Lures). A sideline that has been passed to his son David.
Ted shared a personal relationship with his lord through various roles in church life. Dad saw the good in everyone, and people were often touched by his generosity and gentle ways. Dad always took pride in his family as a loving husband, father, grandpa, and grandfather.
At Ted’s request there will be no formal funeral service. Final arrangements are in care of the wonderful and professional folks at Cherished Memories Funeral Services.
The family is so thankful for the unbelievable care attributed to Dad at Glengarda Hospice in Saskatoon. The wonderful staff went above and beyond to keep him so comfortable and at peace in Dads final days.
