Evelyn Illingworth

Evelyn passed away peacefully August 20, 2022, at the age of 87.  Evelyn leaves behind her children:  Joanne, Tom (Kelly), Rod, Valerie (Leo), and Sandra; her grandchildren; Mathew (Megan), Kyle, Cody, Chanseler (Devan), Lauren (Mark), Kailyn (Logan), Mason, and Jaela (Jestin); her great-grandchildren; Sawyer, Ruby, Tali, Temperance, Madalynn, Juilette, Levi, Zoey and Libby.

​​​​​​​Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband Graham, her son Rick, her mother and father Alex and Pauline, her brothers Nick, Paul, Mike, Dan, Chris, Rudolph, and sisters Minnie, Clara, and Sr. Ottilia.

Evelyn was born on the family homestead near Viscount and lived in that area until moving to Saskatoon. After her marriage, Evelyn, Graham, and family also lived in Davidson and Melfort before moving to Minnesota, where they stayed for 9 years.  Upon their return to Canada, the family lived in Prince Albert, and then back again to Saskatoon.  After Graham’s passing, Evelyn lived in Martensville for a number of years.

While Evelyn was active in numerous activities, it was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that brought her the most joy.  She also like to sew for her family as they were growing up, as well as knit and crochet.  Christmas was her favourite season and she loved hosting Boxing Day, with both sides of the family enjoying the card games and all of the goodies she had worked weeks to prepare.  Evelyn was an avid card player, especially Kaiser, Canasta, Bridge, Cribbage, and any card game where she could bet with nickels, dimes and quarters.  Shopping was a passion as were the Riders, Blue Jays, and anything that had to do with curling.  She liked to dance and travel, visit the casino, spend time at the lake, and family get-togethers most of all.

Evelyn’s Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 24 , 2022, 11:00AM, at Cherished Memories Funeral Chapel, 591 Centennial Drive N, Martensville, SK

One of Evelyn’s request for her memorial service was that everyone wear some item that is pink, as it is her favourite colour.  This could be an item of clothing, jewelry or any other accessory.  The family is asking if you have a favourite picture of Evelyn that you would like to share, you can bring it to the service where it will be displayed.
