Fredrick “Todd” Thayer

Surrounded by his loving family and friends, Todd passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.

Todd, T-Man or just T as he was affectionately called, was predeceased by his parents Helen and Byng Thayer. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Lauren and Lindsay, and their mother Cheryl, his brothers Scot (Cathie, Ian and Carla), Monty (Hedy, Jonathan and Sean), his sisters Nancy (Wes and Cali) and Jana (Dale, Bryanne, Clayton, Brooke, Michael and Maisy, Brett, Taylor and Adilynn, Brynn and Kacy).

Todd was a Canada Post letter carrier for over 40 years, and all of his customers on each and every route enjoyed his wit and candor. His most joy-filled, wonderful times were spent at the family cabin at Loon Lake where he met many lifelong friends, honed his waterskiing skills, enjoyed fishing, always looking to catch the next big one, and sitting around the campfire telling jokes. And he told some good ones!

In his life he touched many people as a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, confidant, coach and friend. To know him was to like him, as his warm, friendly manner and kindness put everyone at ease. His passing will leave a huge void in their lives. Not to be forgotten, his constant companions Diego and Kuta will miss the guy who cuddled, fed and loved them.

Lauren and Lindsay cannot thank their Uncle Monty and Todd’s best friend Gord Farmer enough for all of their hard work and assistance in ensuring Todd’s matters were taken care of throughout this difficult time. They would also like to acknowledge their Uncle Mel for his kindness and endless considerations, and the terrific staff of Surgical Unit 5000 at RUH who looked after Todd.

True to his nature, Todd did not want a formal funeral, but opted for a celebration of life at his beloved Loon Lake in the summer of 2024.
