Glen Whitehead

We are extremely heartbroken to announce the passing of Glen Darrel Whitehead on Saturday, March 19, 2022 , after a lengthy illness.
Glen was born in High River Alberta on June 22, 1962, and grew up on the family farm til his family moved to Moose Jaw Sk.   With his grandparents only feet away these were his fondest memories as a child growing up.   The farm is just outside Nanton Alberta on the Little Bow River and provided Glen with a vast amount of “playground “. We heard stories of helping in the kitchen…with which I should add shaped his culinary talents because could he cook and bake!  To outside with his grandpa, dad & older brothers working on the farm haying, picking rocks or perhaps fixing fence.  Or maybe taking out his favorite horse and he would be off…
His artistic abilities started shining through at a very young age from playing the violin to drawing and painting to later with his fabricating bodywork and love for restoring vehicles.
Recently in 2020/21 his paintings caught the eye of the Saskatoon Art Gallery. Perhaps someday you can see his artwork hanging.
Glen started work at a young age, from helping his mom at home to enjoying seismic work in the bush ” walking the reel”, to running his own janitorial crew to working in wrecking yards too owning his own bodyshop/mechanical business…and he even got his 1A .  He was always creating something with his hands.
His talents have been passed onto his children as their dad lives on in each of them. They have the very best of their dad in each of them and he was so proud!  Glen’s love for his animals was a huge part of his life as well…. he will be joined by a few and missed by many…
Throughout the years Glen formed many long-lasting friendships that remained til his passing.  If he could help a friend, he was there!
Survived by his children Donald (Jessie) Heather and Justin (Patience).  His granddaughter Emberley, mother of his children and friend Bonnie. Mom Jean Jackson,  Brothers; Doug, Brian, and Greg (Christina), his sisters; Monica (Perry), Janelle (Darren)
His mother-in-law Nancy McRae, Sisters-in-laws Laura Spivak, Michelle McRae (Scott) and Debbie McRae.
As well as numerous nieces & nephews cousins aunts and uncles.
Glen is predeceased by his father and his grandparents, his brother-in-law Greg Spivak, his sister-in-law Jackie Whitehead and most recently his father-in-law Donald McRae
Glen’s wishes were to have a party – so a party we shall have..It’s a two-part party…..

Please join us on Saturday June 25th at the Borden Town Hall from 1pm to 4pm for A Celebration of Glen’s Life. We will be serving a light lunch with a slide presentation of Glen’s life …
We hope to hear many stories.
To celebrate Glen’s passion for the outdoors with the weather on our side we will be hosting a stk BBQ on the riverbank south of Radisson in the evening. If weather doesn’t cooperate, its a  BBQ at our house. For those wishing to join us bring your chair, BBQ if you can and fishing rods, as well as warm clothes and byob.

If anyone wishes a donation to your favorite animal shelter in Glens memory is appreciated.
