Hilda Ruth Hughes (nee Rushton)

Born in Truro, Nova Scotia to Marion and Raymond Rushton as one of twelve children, Mom loved spending time with her Grandmother and various cousins as well as summers at Five Houses Beach with her siblings.  In December 1965 she married and then moved to Saskatchewan where she would raise her two daughters and enjoy a successful career as a secretary and paralegal.  After retirement she found pleasure in travelling with her husband Dale, and furbaby Muffin. In later years she would spend her time visiting, playing cards, completing puzzles, and being a member of various social groups.

She leaves behind her daughters Victoria and Candace, three grandchildren: Bella, Angel, and Gabe, and eight siblings: Reg, Charles, Ralph, Donnie, Mary, Sharon, Judy, and Gerri as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Many thanks to the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic, Dr. N. Osigbe, and St.Ann’s Care Home staff who did so much and put in so much effort to make Mom comfortable.

At Mom’s request there will be no funeral or memorial service.  At a later date, she has asked that her ashes be spread in Nova Scotia-a place she still calls home.  Instead, she asks that anyone that is able, should donate to Prairie Hospice in Saskatoon or to Palliative Care.
