Joanne Korkoza

Sadly, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Joanne Korkoza on November 7, 2021.  We know that Heaven has gained an Allstar Angel.

Joanne was born to Nick and Mary (Komenech) Thoms on August 1, 1930 in Bruno on the family farm.  She attended Sunlight School. She married Andrew Korkoza on October 29, 1953 and they made their home on the farm near Bruno Saskatchewan.

Joanne is predeceased by her Parents Nick and Mary Thoms, her Husband Andrew, Daughter Florence Korkoza , and Son-in-law Louis Buchinski.  Also waiting for her at Heaven’s Gates are her sisters; Katie Thoms, Mary Derbowka, Annie Rokoz, Patsy Chomoway and her brother Alex Thoms who passed away as an infant.

Left to celebrate her life are her daughters Patricia Buchinski and Betty Rowlett (Dwayne) and her beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joanne loved spending time outside in the garden and enjoyed watching the squirrels and rabbits run through the yard.  When we would go on a drive she would always be watching for wildlife or asking to stop to check out the crops.  She was grateful for everything and every day that God granted her.

She was patient and loving and would welcome anyone into her home.  If you stopped by for a visit, within minutes the coffee was on and there was a full meal on the table.  You would never leave Baba’s place hungry.

The most important thing to Joanne was her family. She put the needs of others before her own. It never failed that if there was two people and only one piece of pie left, she suddenly wasn’t hungry.

She enjoyed baking cookies and being an amazing Baba.  She made the best perogies, borscht and cabbage rolls.  She also had a knack for finding things.  Baba had an amazing memory. The family always went to her when we were looking for something, because she could always tell us exactly where it was.

Joanne had a strong faith in the Lord and passing on her faith to her family was important. Please keep her in your prayers.
