It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear dad John after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Dad is survived by his wife Lana Pawliuk (Chaban), his children Corinne (Don), Bernie (Ed), Jeff, Val (Kat), Laurie (Brent). Grandchildren: Will Rodwin (Danielle Taylor), Ashley Wynes, Danielle (Rylan) Parenteau, Christopher and Alex Richard, Dean Waldner. Great grandchildren, Jayden and Caisten Turta-Rodwin, Rayne Rodwell and Isaac Scarrot. He is also survived by his sister Debbie (Ross) Hackl, sister-in-law Donna Pawluk, brother-in-law, Lory (Grace) Kihn and numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to him.
Dad died a happy man. He had a wife he loved and cherished, he had frequent visits from his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Oh, how he loved to tease them and to make them laugh. He was also very blessed to have two loving and patient son-in-laws who visited often and who patiently did all of his running around for him, like when he found something on Buy and Sell he ‘had to have’. He had good friends and neighbors in their apartment complex, both the two-legged and the four-legged kind. When we visited Dad, we would often find him, sitting on the deck, dog treats by his side for the many pooches who liked to stop for a visit, a treat and maybe a game of fetch.
Special thank you to my sister Val, who cared for dad so well when the journey became difficult. Thank you to the nurses, the spiritual care and the music therapy staff in the Palliative unit at St. Paul’s hospital. Also, thank you to the Home Care staff who took care of dad prior to his admission to the hospital.
At Dad’s request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local SPCA or the Palliative Care unit at St. Paul’s hospital.
We love you and we will miss you Pops, Gido, Geegee,
Rest in peace.
