Remembering Joyce Arlene Lozinsky (née Bellows) September 3, 1933 – February 13, 2025
With deep sorrow and immense gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Joyce Arlene Lozinsky (née Bellows) on February 13, 2025, at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Joyce was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and friend whose kindness and unwavering spirit touched the lives of many.
Born on September 3, 1933, Joyce was the eldest of four children of Mike and Alma Bellows (née Card). She spent her childhood in the Liverpool district, attending Liverpool School before graduating from Sturgis Composite High School in 1950. Inspired by a love of learning, she pursued her teaching certificate at Teachers’ College in Moose Jaw, beginning a lifelong career dedicated to shaping young minds. Over the years, she shaped young minds in Ulric, Brush Valley East, and Hyas School, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students.
It was in Danbury, during her first year of teaching, that Joyce met Vernon Lozinsky, the man who would become her devoted partner in life. They married on January 31, 1954, at Stenen United Church and spent the next sixty years building a beautiful life together in Danbury. As Joyce continued her teaching career, Vernon built his Texaco service station into a thriving business, and together, they raised three daughters—Valerie, Shelly, and Stacey—instilling in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion.
Joyce had a lifelong passion for sports, especially softball, playing on teams throughout her life, from Sturgis Composite to the Moose Jaw Dairy Queen girls' team, the Danbury Ladies, and both the Yorkton Ladies and Hyas Mixed 55+ teams. A true competitor at heart, she carried that same enthusiasm into her unwavering support of the Toronto Blue Jays, rarely missing a game.
After retiring in 1985, Joyce and Vern embraced their love of the outdoors, spending their summers camping and fishing. Joyce took great pride in always catching "the biggest fish" and cherished the peaceful moments spent surrounded by nature. She was also an avid gardener, filling her greenhouse and yard with vibrant flowers and fresh vegetables.
Following Vern’s passing in 2014, Joyce moved to Preeceville Manor, later residing at Chateau Primrose and Applewood Manor in Saskatoon. Even as life changed, she remained fiercely independent, carrying with her a deep love for her family, her quick wit, and her strong spirit.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Alma, her sister Shirley Kowch, her husband Vernon, and many beloved relatives. She leaves behind her three daughters, Valerie (Sebastian), Shelly (Tom), and Stacey (Shannon), her grandchildren Scott (Melissa), Tiffany, Lyell, Remy, and Bianca, and three great-grandchildren, Ryker, Huxon, and Jaxe.
Joyce’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and dedication. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, in the lessons she imparted, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave so freely.
Rest peacefully, Mom. Your love and strength will guide us always.
Cherished Memories is honoured to have been entrusted with the care and arrangements for Joyce.
