It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Kenneth (Ken) Chomyn, who passed away on January 10th, 2025 at age 73 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Ken was predeceased by his parents, and brother Milton. He is survived by his sister Evelyn, her family, and Ken's three children Kendra, Brett and Jolene.
Ken was born on February 26, 1951, to Alex and Pauline Chomyn in Saskatoon. Ken spent much of his professional life as a businessman, working alongside his father in their family-run company, Video One Systems Ltd. Ken worked with a variety of local and international clientele, and he carried fond memories of his travels including Las Vegas and as far as Osaka, Japan.
After retiring, Ken spent his final years at Sherbrooke Community Center. Community has always been an important part of Ken's life. Inspired by his parents, who were deeply involved in giving back, Ken spent years volunteering with the Kinsmen Foundation and his father's church.
It was at Sherbrooke, where he turned his focus to art, a passion he didn't know he had. "I always appreciated art, but never made time for it." Over the years of "scribbling", Ken crafted numerous dynamic and eye-catching compositions. One of his more memorable drawings was about the famous comedy routine by Abbott and Costello called, "Who's on First?"
For those who wish to honor Ken's life and community, we would encourage donations to the Sherbrooke Community Center Foundation, a place that made a tremendous impact on Ken's final years. A private burial will take place where Ken will be laid to rest with his brother and parents at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon.
Cherished Memories is honoured to have been entrusted with Ken's care.
