Laurie passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Debbie, at his side. This was one of his last requests after a two-year struggle with different health issues.
Laurie started his life on a farm at Mondou until his father’s passing. His mom, Helen, moved all the children, Leonard, Loraine, Lil, Lawrence, Laurie, twin sister Lois, and Linda, into Elrose.
Laurie's mom met Peter Sarich working in Elrose. Peter bought a house in Hanley and moved all the children that were still living at home to Hanley. A few years later the children gained another brother when mom and Peter had another child, Philip Sarich.
Laurie quit school at a very young age and went to work. Laurie was always a very hard worker. He worked at building granaries, at garages for farmers, and he worked at tire shops. Later in life Laurie went to work for Central Asphalt as their heavy-duty mechanic. Laurie could fix everything from motorcycles, skidoos, cars, trucks, farm machinery and all the equipment at Central Ashpalt.
Laurie met Debbie while working in Davidson. Deb was 15 and Laurie was 20. They were married two years later, on July 13, 1972 in Hanley.
Laurie and Deb had a great life together. There were many different jobs over the years that took then to different places. They made many memories of their life together which they loved and treasured. They enjoyed 54 years together – 52 married. Laurie and Deb had 3 wonderful children: Robbie (Tammy), Tanya (Terry), and Travis, and 5 grandchildren. Laurie absolutely loved them to pieces.
Laurie loved all his brothers and sisters. Laurie was a great husband to Deb, and he was very proud of their three children. He was also a very good uncle and Grandpa.
Laurie leaves behind his wonderful family whom he love above everything!
"I will love you forever Honey. Thank-you for all the great memories and oh my, what a life we had together!
PS. Give Molly the heads up when your brat (aka as me, Deb) comes to join you, I love peas too."
~Deb
