April 15, 1946 – August 22, 2023

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Louise Bassendowski which occurred on August 22, 2023 at the age of 77 years.

Louise was born in Weyburn on April 15, 1946 to parents Frederick and Madge Fischer, and grew up in Estevan. She married her husband and best friend Mel Bassendowski in 1988. She worked for the CIBC for 29 years. Louise lived in several places before settling in Dawson Creek, British Columbia where she worked at the local Co-op Grocery Store.

Louise loved camping and especially loved visiting the grandchildren. One of her most memorable trips was taking the fifth wheel to Alaska. It was the trip of a lifetime.

Following retirement, Mel and Louise moved to Martensville in 2009. She was a kind and generous soul who made this world a much better place.

Louise is lovingly survived by, and will be deeply missed by her husband, soul-mate and best friend Mel; son Shawn (Serena) Caswell, grandchildren Ryland & Kassen of Medicine Hat; step-son Trent (Jen) Bassendowski, grandchildren Eden, Hudson & Julia of Cochrane, AB; step-son Clay (Dianne) Bassendowski and granddaughter Ireland of Dawson Creek, B.C., and sister Marlene (Larry) Esper of Los Angeles, California.

She was predeceased by an infant brother; and her twin brother Lamar. Cremation has taken place. No formal services will be held.

Mel would like to thank the nurses on the 6th floor at City Hospital for the loving care provided to Louise during her last hours.

Cherished Memories Funeral Services & Crematory is honoured to be entrusted with the care of Louise Bassendowski.
