Margaret Isabelle Leichert

It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Isabelle Leichert announce her passing on Jan 21, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer.

Margaret Isabelle Leichert (Haynes) was born on September 9, 1954 in Lestock, Sk. to Thomas and Lilias Haynes. She was the youngest of 6 siblings. Margaret and her family resided in Kelliher and she attended and graduated from Kelliher School. Margaret married Bill Leichert on Dec 15, 1979. Bill and Margaret moved to Yorkton and were blessed with 2 boys, Cory and Darcy. While in Yorkton Margaret worked at Ram Industries and babysat. In 1984 Bill, Margaret and the boys moved to Naicam. Margaret had numerous jobs during their 17 years there, from waitressing, working at the hog barns and the grocery store. Margaret was a very hard worker and always had a smile on her face, no matter how hard the job was or how tired she was. In 2007 Bill and Margaret moved to Saskatoon. 

Margaret was involved in whatever sports Cory and Darcy were doing while they were growing up. She loved watching them curl, cross country ski and play ball. 

Margaret had a very special bond with her sisters, Lilias, Iona, Betty and Dorothy. She loved and cherished their sister days together and looked forward to whatever adventure they were going on. She will be deeply missed by her big sisters.

Margaret was so excited to become a grandma! She loved playing with her grandbabies when they were little and as any grandma thinks, her grandchildren did no wrong! As the grandkids got older, she attended any sporting events, recitals and tournaments that she could. For someone so small she could cheer very loud!! 

Margaret always put everyone else before herself. She would do anything to lend a hand and help others, no matter how big the job was or hard the task, she NEVER complained and always had a smile on her face. She was the most stubborn lady, small but mighty and you did not mess with Margaret!

Margaret will be remembered for her beautiful soul and smile, even though the last months of her life were tough, she never stopped smiling and never complained. 

After a short battle with cancer, Margaret passed away peacefully at RUH with her boys by her side. She is predeceased by her parents and her only brother, Lloyd. She will be forever remembered by her husband of 46 years, Bill, and sons Cory (Estelle) children Megan, Ryland, Kole and Darcy (Heather) children Adam and Alexandra.

Special thanks go out to the amazing doctors and nurses at City Hospital, St. Paul’s and RUH that took such great care of Margaret during her short stay.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date this Spring. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
