We are very sorry to announce the passing of Mike Greig on October 14, 2018. He will be sadly missed by his three daughters, who will be taking him back home to British Columbia after his cremation, as there will be no official funeral.
Michael Shane Greig was born on June 21, 1965 in Duncan, B.C. He was predeceased by his parents Dennis and Marie Greig and he has one sister, Susan. He loved and adored and was very proud of his daughters, Abbigail, Jasmine and Katrina. They were his world and he would have done anything for them. He was the kind of person who was never afraid to stand up for the things he believed in and the people he loved and cared about.
We realize that not all of Mike’s history is here. To any family and friends who would like to add anything, please feel free to share who you are, how you know him and any favorite memories you have below.
In the past, Mike had mentioned he wanted Katrina to sing the following song for him after he passed, so we have included the lyrics to the song by Annie Lennox below.
“Into The West”
Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
You’ve come to journey’s end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore
Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You’re only sleeping
What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home
And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
All souls pass
Hope fades
Into the world of night
Through shadows falling
Out of memory and time
Don’t say: «We have come now to the end»
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again
And you’ll be here in my arms
Just sleeping
What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home
And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the West
