Even with all of these losses, Mike still continued to live a pretty full life. It is such a comfort to know he is now united with them.
Mike spent his youth on the farm where he learnt a strong work ethic that was evident throughout his whole life. Mike was born a natural born musician. He could sing and play many instruments Guitar, Accordion, Violin, Steal Guitar and Organ. In 1955 he was playing in a band when he met the love of his life Doris Dore in Spiritwood. They married October 8, 1956 to start a family. Moving to Smiley, SK were Don was born. He had started a long career in the oil industry. Moving to Edmonton where Bonnie came along. Then Drumheller buying their first home, Monty and Lynn joining the family. It's here where he met several friends who loved to play music as much as he did and they gathered on a regular basis to party and play music. They would meet up almost yearly untill 2016.In 1965 they moved the family to Calgary and settled in to raise their family. It was here that they welcomed Brian and Michelle completing the Struhar crew.
He worked in the Oilfields for many years and was greatly respected in the industry. He eventually started his own Water Hauling business to be more available to his family. He enjoyed watching his children play sports. Hockey, baseball, and he often coached their teams. In 1981 Mike and Doris left Calgary to head back to their roots in Saskatchewan where they found their dream acreage just outside P.A. where he resided till his passing.
Being self motivated, Mike started up his own business, Struhar Sales & Service, which he and Doris ran for years. He traveled throughout the upper Province selling and servicing fire extinguishers for many years.
He also loved farming his land just outside Spiritwood, and spent his time doing that for many years, right up until a week before his unexpected passing.
Dad was a deep rooted family man- he remained involved in our lives, his grandchildren's, and the next generation too.
His friends list went back as far as people he grew up with and so many along the way. He played music almost daily. He enjoyed telling jokes and stories. And he had no intentions of slowing down. We all knew that he always told you exactly how it was.
His friend has said ' He was the best character he ever knew and I learned a lot of things from him.' Dad was definitely the most dependable and hardest working man around. Mike Struhar could never be forgotten.
We will Celebrate Mike's life on July 27th, 2024 at 1:00 pm at St. Michael's Church 1505-13th Street West Prince Albert SK. A Graveside Burial will be in Spiritwood, July 28th, at 11:30am with a Come and Go to follow at Pioneer Lodge Spiritwood.
