Orrin Mitchell Setter

May 30, 1956 — February 12, 2025

It's with sorrowful regret and a heavy heart that I'm announcing the passing of our beloved Orrin Setter. Orrin passed away in the city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on February 12th, 2025.

Orrin lived a good life; he was a hardworking man, and he loved to play hard too. A jack of all trades, there was nothing he couldn't ponder and figure out how get it fixed. He was very robust and enjoyable to be with and he made a lasting impression with everyone he ever met.

Orrin grew up on his parent's farm in Russell, Manitoba. He learned the values, joys, and hard work of farming but for Orrin it never really was work because he loved the farming life. He also loved operating and working with big machinery which he did for most of his life.

Orrin forged many long-term and short-term friends. His infectious laugh and kindness towards others, and sharing of ideas and solutions, are what attracted numerous people to him, and he was just as fond of all the people he met as they were of him.

Orrin always enjoyed everything he did to the fullest and he left loving and happy memories for everyone who shared in his life. He was fun, inviting, and the most faithful friend to have. Family and friends all have countless fond memories of Orrin at family reunions, bike rallies, weddings, and funerals.

Orrin was a man with a terrific personality who people always levitated to but he also made time to dote over his pets and he received their love right back. Orrin will be so profoundly missed by all.

Orrin and I lived a wonderful life together that involved exploring on a regular basis, travelling extensively from coast to coast, learning new surprising things, and there was rarely a dull moment to be had. He was an honest, trusting, humble man, and my loving soul mate.

Orrin had a deep reverence and love for our Lord and Saviour in Heaven, and now it's time to celebrate his life and wish him a pleasant journey in his new life. Orrin's absence is a heavy weight to carry.

Orrin is survived by Karen Setter, his 3 children Cassie, Curtis and Cory Lyn, his older brother Greg, and his younger sister Kim, as well as his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, 8 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

Orrin is predeceased by his parents Marguerite and Howard, sister Angela, 2 stepdaughters Jill and Michelle, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

A good man died, and we have to say goodbye. Orrin, we will hold your memory in our hearts forever more, and one day will meet again. Rest in Heavenly Peace.

In honouring Orrin's wishes there will be no funeral services held.

Inviting your family and friends over to your home to celebrate Orrin's life is exactly what Orrin would prefer. By reminiscing about your favourite memories, telling stories, and toasting Orrin, you will have made him humble. Let's all light a candle to honour Orrin's memories.

Here is a music piece Orrin and I discovered recently, and we both listened to it uncountable times. It instantly became a favorite.

In lieu of flowers you may send a charitable donation to a soup kitchen, a homeless shelter, food bank, or a charity of your choice in Orrin's name.

It's with grace that I would like to express my heartfelt and sincere gratitude to the Blaine Lake Ambulance Authority in attendance, RUH Doctors and Nurses in Saskatoon, including extended caregivers and staff, as well as the attending Reverend and Chaplain. Also, to Cherished Memories in Martensville, including transporters and extended staff.

I also extend endless gratitude towards the overwhelming and continuous loving and unwavering support from both mine and Orrin's family and friends.

You have all showed profound care, compassion, sympathy, and kindness towards me, and in the care and management of Orrin's wishes, well-being and comfort through this most heartbreaking process. I was lost and blinded, and you helped me immensely in navigating my way through the most difficult times anyone can ever imagine having to endure. I will forever hold all involved in deep respect and appreciation, and it will never be forgotten for all you have done.
